Many miles of natural, pristine mountain streams with the highest water quality imaginable await enthusiastic anglers in the close vicinity of the Hotel Gridlon. Char, rainbow and brown trout splash about in the water of the Rosanna and Lech rivers and the Ferwallsee lake. Fishing is a long tradition at St. Anton and Pettneu in the Arlberg massif.

From Pettneu you will quickly get to the most beautiful scenic routes of the Austrian Alps: the Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße road, the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße road, and the Timmelsjoch and Hahnenjoch mountain passes. Popular motorcycle tours in the neighbouring countries Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are also within easy reach.
Motorbike Tours - Highlights
over the Silvretta mountain range to the Montafon valley | From Pettneu am Arlberg take the S16 highway or the old A-road towards Landeck. Leave the S16 at Pians and turn right ahead of the JET petrol station, taking the B188 to the Paznauntal valley. The B188 will take you to the Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse toll station via See, Kappl, Ischgl and Galtür (toll rate status November 2008: motorcycle € 10,50, passenger car € 11,50). The scenic route of the Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse will take you to the Montafon valley and from there on the B188 to Bludenz. From Bludenz take the S16 or the old A-road over the Arlbergpass mountain pass back to the Hotel Gridlon. Length of the tour: approximately 155 kilometres |
through the Bregenzerwald region | From the Hotel Gridlon over the Arlbergpass and Flexenpass mountain passes to Zürs - Lech - Warth. In Warth turn left onto the B200. Stay on the B200 until you have reached Au (approx. 25 km). In Au turn left onto the B193 heading towards Faschinajoch. From Faschinajoch via Bludenz (S16) back to Pettneu am Arlberg. Length of the tour: approximately 130 kilometres |
scenic route with numerous side trips through Italy | From Pettneu take the S16 to Landeck. In Landeck turn right onto the B315 heading towards St. Moritz (CH). In Prutz you have the first opportunity to take a side trip from this scenic route - on your left you will find the scenic route of the Kaunertertaler Gletscherstrasse (toll). If you stay on the original route the next opportunity for a side trip comes right after Pfunds. The road on your right heads towards Samnaun in Switzerland (outside the custom union). If you stay on the B315 you will get to South Tyrol via Nauders and Reschenpass. The next kilometres on the S 40 and S38 heading towards Meran are not very impressive but very soon the next attractive travel destination is waiting for you. At Compaccio turn left into the Schnaltal valley - no real biker should miss the opportunity of racing down these serpentines. Back from your side trip to the Schnaltal on the B38, it is prudent to check the time. Continue towards Meran and return to Austria via the Timmelsjoch mountain pass. Or take the same way back to Pettneu. In Meran you should go to see the waterside promenade and treat yourself to some delicious Italian ice cream. Take the S44 in Meran and get to the Timmelsjoch mountain pass via Rifiano, Saltusio, San Martino in Passiria, San Leonardo in Passiria, Moso and Belprato. On the Austrian side of the border take the A12 and leave the Ötztal valley behind via Hochgurgl, Obergurgl and Sölden. Return to Pettneu on the A12 motorway via Imst and Landeck. through the lechtal valley | From Pettneu via the Arlbergpass and Flexenpass mountain passes towards Zürs - Lech – Warth. In Warth turn right onto the B198 heading towards Steeg. Between Häselgehr and Elmen turn right towards the Hahntennjoch mountain pass. Follow the signposts to Imst. From Imst travel back to Pettneu via Landeck. Length of the tour: approximately 140 kilometres |
